The SA Health Guideline: Assessing and managing the risk: COVID exposures in critical services and infrastructure applies to the veterinary services sector. The Guideline will apply when the South Australian population's COVID vaccination rate is 80-90% of persons aged 16+, or as directed by the Chief Public Health Officer. The Guideline is to be used when any person with COVID has attended a veterinary premises. The steps in the Guideline need to be followed to conduct a risk assessment.
The Guideline has 26 scenarios to assess risk depending on whether the contact is vaccinated or unvaccinated, length of contact with the positive case, whether the positive case was inside or outside, room size if the positive case was inside, whether masks were being worn by the contact and the positive case and other factors. The Guideline is general in nature and will be updated to reflect shifting COVID epidemiology and subsequent changes to contact management practices in South Australia.
If you have any questions about the Guideline or COVID outbreak management, please contact SA Health.
